I had a good discussion with a friend of mine on who the best receiver in the NFL was. We basically narrowed it down to Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson. Anyone else even in the discussion?

IMO it's Fitzgerald, and easily.

I'd put Steve Smith up there with those two. Calvin Johnson will be getting there once he gets a decent QB. TO maybe if not for the drops. I think Randy Moss still has it, too.

Larry Fitzgerald is my pick for #1. He's put on a clinic in the playoffs.

I would agree Fitzgerald and Smith are 2 of the best. Brandon Marshall should probably be in the discussion as well.

I'd add Jennings, despite his poor Pro Bowl status, to that tier of Marshall and Steve Smith - he's right there with those guys IMO.

I've never been really impressed with Brandon Marshall from what little I've seen. He seems like it's more about quantity than quality, but that just might be Shanahan's offense distorting. I'd definitely take Jennings over him.

Can't believe Andre Johnson has been ignored since the opening post. I would say Fitzgerald, Smith, and Andre Johnson as the top 3 and leave it at that. Fitzgerald had a good QB this year, Johnson had a mediocre QB this year, and Smith has had Delhomme...read that however you want.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

I think Fitzgerald. Panthers have a running game which is why I don't think Smith. But Fitzgerald puts up solid numbers despite having Bolden taking having a lot of catches, and Fitzgerald was even putting up great numbers when Bolden was hurt. I think he's number one but there are a lot of other great receivers!

I think Andre Johnson is the best WR in the NFL....

His stats aren't as good as Fitz, nor is he as effective but he isn't surrounded by all the good players that Fitz is, including an adequate QB. I'm not a fan of Schaub.

But Calvin Johnson could be nuts for the next 10 years, unfortunately for the Pack.

Yea, i think it's a close call between Andre Johnson and Fitzgerald, but i'd take Fitzgerald. Steve Smith and Calvin Johnson would round out my top 4, but i could easily see Calvin Johnson very soon being the best in the league, especially if he finally gets a quality QB to throw him the ball. Just imagine Calvin Johnson on a quality team with a good QB and offensive line to protect that quarterback?

Johnson just might be the most skilled WR to ever enter the NFL. The guy is 6'5 and around 235, with blazing speed and incredible body control. Think Randy Moss with a lot more strength and without the poor attitude. For him to rack up 1300 yards with scrubs like Kitna, Culpepper, and Orlovsky throwing him the ball is pretty amazing.

Definitely between Fitzgerald and Johnson. Those two are just freaks.

Fitzgerald looked like he was playing against highschoolers vs Carolina.

Johnson had one of the best receiving seasons in history this year.

I think it's Andre Johnson as well, followed by Fitzgerald. Boldin had a crazy season despite missing a handful of games... I think he's being overlooked. Calvin Johnson will be there for the next decade too.

I think it's Larry Fitzgerald. I love the guy. He's a terrific player and a class act on and off the field, as is Andre Johnson. Really, you can't go wrong with either one.

I think Boldin wins the all-time All-Madden WR spot for playing with a broken face. That guy is nuts. My favorite two stories this year were that one and the one where Al Harris asked if he could have his spleen removed so he could play earlier. Boldin may not be nearly as athletically-gifted as Fitzgerald and Johnson (either one), but he's uber-strong and uber-tough.

Well I don't know if Boldin had a choice this year. The guy wants out of AZ so he either puts up solid numbers this year so he gets the paycheck or he ends up getting picked up by the lions and getting paid like Freddy Mitchell

Regardless of contract status, he had a monster year. Tied for second in receiving TDs and over 1,000 yards despite missing 4+ games is pretty nuts.

I go Fitzgerald at 1a and Calvin Johnson as 1b. Give Calvin a good QB, or a good OL to protect a decent QB, and he will be frighteningly good. Andre Johnson a very close #3, and Steve Smith a very close #4.

I think I have also changed my mind after watching this game.

Fitzgerald is amazing.

Another factor of Fitzgerald is his yards after catch.

The dude fights for every inch.
