We conducted our "draft lottery" last night. 10-team league. I've got pick number #1. Let the advice begin...

What kind of scoring? PPR? Is it QB friendly or RB friendly?

PPR waited 70-30 in that favor. 4pts for TD pass.

It's hard to ever justify a WR as #1, but I think you have to seriously consider Calvin Johnson.

I'm not a huge fan of taking a RB #1, though that seems to be traditional. If that's your plan, it's between Foster and McCoy depending on how much PPR comes into play (PPR leaning towards McCoy). Maybe Ray Rice. I'm not terribly excited about any of those guys.

My personal advice is to take Rodgers, with Megatron a close 2nd.

I'm leaning towards Aaron, but usually I have good luck with taking a later-round QB. I hate the first pick. Blow it an it's hard to rebound.

The first pick is great, IMO, because you get the first pick in the third round too.

In a PPR league last year...

QB
1. Aaron Rodgers - 385 points
10. Mark Sanchez - 227 points (158 fewer)

RB.
1. Ray Rice - 321 points
20. Shonn Greene - 163 points (158 fewer)

This data suggests taking either the #1 QB or RB, whichever you believe is least likely to bust. I would say that is Aaron Rodgers.

Boy, I know its early yet, but everything I read leans to Foster as the #1 overall...

I'm going with Foster. Just in-case anyone was hanging on the drama.

I don't know why Ray Rice wasn't considered, especially in a PPR league. He is an everything-type back and has no one behind him. Foster has a really good backup in Ben Tate, so I you take Foster grab Tate a little higher than his value. In my eyes, these 2 backs are 1 and 1A. In a 10-team league, I'd take Foster.
