Fresh of a 24-19 Monday Night Win, the Green Bay Packers head to Ford Field to take on the 0-1 Lions.

That's a horrible pic of Kitna. I love it.

Here's to Grant looking like Michael Turner against an atrocious Lions D. I'm sure a lot of you were watching Brett last week, but if you caught any of the Det-Atl game, the Lions defense was historically bad. I don't think I've seen 11 players appear so incompetent as both individuals and as a team.

41-3 Pack

Grant will have 200 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Someone reverse curse me, please (i'm lookin' at you jason). I'm getting really excited about this one Image

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

49-17 GB

Grant runs for 175 and 3 TD's

DET's D looks bad. Atlanta is bad and they looked great vs DET.

No excuse for losing here.

This is the home opener for the Lions... they're not just going to lay down. If Rudi Johnson has anything left in the tank, you can say they have a solid to good offense.

I want to be able to temper your enthusiasm so badly, but that's all I can come up with. Maybe considering the scope of the game you could say it won't be a laugher. Trouble is, they traded away their best defensive player in Shaun Rogers (okay, maybe 2nd best after Ernie Sims) and still suck in the secondary.

I think best case scenario for Detroit is they pull to within 10 points after garbagetime. If the Packers are able to run the ball half as well as ATL did last week, it'll get ugly.

The Pack won't fix the penalties from last week and have some costly ones down the stretch. Grant will be held to under 100 yds rushing and Rodgers will look like a Rookie qb making silly mistakes. Blackmon will try to field a punt when he shouldn't have and will lose a fumble giving the Lions excellent field position. During the play blackmon comes down with a freak injury that will sideline him for the next 4-6 weeks. Two plays later Kitna throws a TD pass to Williams in the back of the endzone beating Harris. The Packers end up losing the game.

Lions 24
Packers 17

book it!

Thanks jason, knew I could count on you.

So this is a serious question:

After the pissed off Lions fans sell their tickets to Packer fans, and after the rest of the Lions fans "walk out" on the game in protest of the unfirable Matt Millen, what are the chances that this turns into a home game for us?

I say a little prayer every year that the Lions will keep Millen as the GM. Just doing my part Image

Thought this was a fitting place for my favorie John Kitna reference. While driving out west in September of 2001, a caller to the local radio show spewed forth this gem: "You can't spell Kitna without an I-N-T". Pure genius.

I think this will be much closer than some of the first predictions in this thread. This is the NFL. Everything has to fall right to win by more than two scores.

Packers - 27
Lions - 21

I am not sure that Grant has enough carries in him to get much more than 100 yards. I think he'll be in the 15-18 carry range again this week, as he was pretty sore after Monday night and has a short week to get ready for the Lions. And if the game gets out of hand I'm sure he'll get rested as much as possible to get ready for more difficult games (re: Dallas) in the near future.

It should be interesting to see how much/little Grant does play. Hopefully the Packers get a big lead early and rest him or not even play him. I think it will be very interesting to see Williams and Johnson match up against Harris and Woodson. They did a nice job on Berrian last week, but the Lions have much more talent at WR IMO. Calvin Johnson is going to be a very special player in this league.

I think the Packers will win. 31 - 20. The Lions will get a garbage TD at the end to make it look close.

Will the Lions attempt to put pressure on Rodgers? That's their only change and I don't know if they have the guys to do it. I'm not saying pressuring Rodgers leads to him failing. I think it's important to pressure any young quarterback and see how they react. Maybe Rodgers picks them a part or maybe he fails, but if I'm Detroit I put pressure on him all day and see what happens.

Grant had 95 yards on 12 carries last week against one of the better run defenses in the league. Michael Turner looked like an All-Pro last week, and Matt Ryan looked like a competent QB, considering he's a rookie (and he only threw 13 passes). I think Grant can get 150 on 18 carries...and maybe catch some passes out of the backfield. Even though Rodgers has 1 NFL start, he's been around long enough to exploit a pretty weak defense. The Lions still score their points, and it may be closer than expected because it is in the dome. I still say the Packers win 31-17.

That very well could be if he was 100% healthy. I don't even think he's a go to be active according to the JS blog. Brandon Jackson has also missed some practice time this week. It could be Lumpkin carrying the majority of the carries. I think there will be a lot different play calling this week. If Grant is out, my guess is Rodgers is unleashed a bit and he'll have plenty of opportunities to have some big plays.

I'll be 13th row in the endzone for this one. I'm hoping there will be a lot of Packers fans too. I like our chances in this if Grant can go. If he can't, I still think we'll win, but it will be a lot more difficult. We'll find out how bad the Lions D is if Brandon Jackson carves them up.

Grant practiced today and they'll see how he feels tomorrow before deciding if he'll play, how much, inactive, etc.

The Lions were lucky to sell this game out. Apparently, a furniture store in Detroit purchased the remaining stock of tickets. Shocking considering the Packers are in town for the Lions home opener. I'll look for the link -- thought it was interesting.

anytime man, anytime. I try never to pick my team to win. I think I might have done it once last year and they lost.

I just don't get how the Lions can stink for so long after Barry left. It would be tough to be a Lions fan. I'm not a huge TT guy (like I'm sure we all know here), but you really can't argue against the fact that he's more or less won since he's been here.

I don't remember exactly how it happened, but why did Martz leave Detroit? Their offense and players they had IMO was a pretty good match for what he wants to do. The 49ers...not so much.

Yeah, that sums it up fairly well. Say what you will about Thompson, but he does his homework and is a great scout of talent, even if people don't like his methods. Millen on the other hand is just clueless. I mean, how much offensive 'talent' do you have to draft in the first round before you actually put a serviceable offense on the field?

Agreed. I know TT does his homework so please don't look at what I'm about to say as a negative. TT can't be everywhere to scout these players so I'll say TT does his homework no doubt, but I also think he has hired the 'right' people in terms of scouting and such. I just don't think a 6th or 7th round pick TT has all the details...that's for the people under him and it appears so far TT knows how to structure his part of the organization.

Why does Matt Millen still have a job in the NFL? How was he ever qualified? I do think the Lions will eventually turn the corner (hello any decent GM that is given Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson).
