After a month of home games, the Packers go back on the road and meet a team that will be a difficult match-up for them with the Julio Jones-Matt Ryan connection.

Julio Jones was hard to cover the last time the Packers met the Falcons and that was with their best CBs. Now with our 4th and 5th string CBs starting, that task looks daunting.

There are two keys to the game that I see:
1) Stop the run. Sounds silly with Julio Jones to worry about. But in recent games, the Packers were able to stop the run with normal DL and LB personnel and leaving the safeties deep. Keeping the safeties back is probably the only way we have a prayer of containing Jones.

2) Rodgers is accurate. The Falcons defense isn't special, nor is their pass rush. If the Packers win, it will probably be a shoot-out game. Can we can't have Rodgers mis-firing*.

*NOTE: I was stunned at how much time was spent by the announcers of the Bears game convincing us that Rodgers wasn't the problem, but it was WRs getting open. Yes, that is a problem also, but previous games had Rodgers high, low and all over the place when he had wide open receivers. MM needs to call better (and more creative) calls. The WRs need to work more on getting open. But Rodgers needs to be the accurate Rodgers of old. /RANT

Hmmmmmm

Cobb out.
Montgomery out.
Matthews out.
Lacy out.
Starks out.
Shields out.
Randall out.
Rollins out.

Yeah . . . . It doesn't look good.

Not sure I'm going to enjoy watching this one.

Cook was out too.

Yeah, I went into the game assuming a loss based on the number of starters that were missing. But they didn't play half bad. Nice to see Davis and Allison make some big plays.

And I hate prevent defense. Hate it, hate it, hate it. In fact, that probably helped Ryan more than anything. It gave him unlimited easy dump passes for 5-6 yards each. He was struggling on the deep stuff, so they should've kept the game plan the same for the final drive.

I've read a lot of talk today about how the Packers defense did a great job keeping them in the game. My question is, would that have been the same story if Julio Jones had not got hurt and, thus, played at about 50%?

I thought they were doing pretty well against him even before he was injured. But that also cost us leaving others wide open. After he got hurt, we probably should've backed off double teaming him a bit as it was obvious he wasn't 100%.
