How does Jeff Triplette get all these prime-time games? You would think you'd want your best representation when more people are watching, but I see him ALL the time doing Sunday/Monday night games. And it's not like he has some other appeal...he sounds like a hick with sinus congestion. He has to have something on Goodell.

Triplette was on the negotiating committee for the refs. (Another one I read was Scott Green, the guy who couldn't see how Aaron Rodgers being taken down by his facemask was penalty-worthy in the '09 playoffs vs. ARI.)

He, out of all, is the most GWB of refs: in retrospect the worst many could imagine and for the rest, one they could barely stand. (Maybe that's just his accent though.) That comparison is probably a bit complimentary, since I can't see anyone watching his games then hearing that drawl and thinking "this guy just gets the game." At least, not any of us who are aware of him, right?

I see the failure of the officials' lockout negotiation as a predictable outcome similar to that of his failure of ref skills, and hence partially blame him (along with the 31 greedy NFL owners) for the Fail Mary debacle. My guess is that much of the wait was due to the owners wanting to see him gone.

Damn, just seeing his name in print gets an easy 50+ words out from me guaranteed, regardless of whether I'm just planning to lurk or add...

Giants lost 17-16 to the Redskins.

Guys, the Giants are not a playoff lock. They are 7-5 and finish up against New Orleans, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Philly. I could easily see 2 losses and a 9-7 record in there.

If the Redskins or Cowboys can manage 9-7 they would almost certainly win the tiebreaker over the Giants. They've both beaten the Giants, and the Giants have a bad divisional record.

The Giants managed to go back to looking incredibly mediocre just a week after stomping all over us.

As adam said, the Giants are overtake-able and I'm openly rooting for that to happen.
