I find it funny that, not only is the general football-watching populous going to be getting a bit tired of football by Monday night, but the nail-biter meant to reel them back in will be Carolina @ Philly. Once upon a time, one would think that could be a good game. As it stands, it could be the lowest rated Monday Night Football game in history.

Oh you poor, poor Lions...

Also, Jim "know-your-rules" Schwartz is a schmuck.

He should know the rules, but that's easily the worst rule in sports. I mean, seriously? A double-mega-penalty for a harmless mistake? A SPITE penalty? "Hey, idiot, you can't challenge that automatic review, so screw you, we're not going to review it now."

Plus, it's a new rule, so it's understandable how a coach could forget in the heat of the moment. I couldn't believe it when it happened to Atlanta and now it actually cost Detroit points. So dumb.

Isn't the no challenges rule the same one that Schwartz yelled at Harbaugh about during their confrontation last season? Funny that he knew the rule then.

Yep...

Also, this...

Still sucks for the Lions fans to be screwed by what's probably the most ridiculous rule on the books. I seem to have some recollection of experiencing that sort of incompetence sometime earlier this season. Also, why am I now conditioned to believe the Lions lone INT in overtime was actually simultaneous possession. Did something happen to me?

At least this is finally going to get the rule looked at by the competition committee. Hopefully they do the right thing and change it.

NFL Blitz has better referees.

At what point does this "challenge" idea just go away and we go back to a real form of instant replay? They just keep piling rules on top of it. At some point, everything will be getting reviewed upstairs, and I'll have to explain to my kids why coaches have red flags in their back pocket that they never use because they can't challenge anything anymore...but for some reason the challenge thing will still be on the books.

The Vikings offense doesn't exist without Harvin to take 6 yard passes and run away from defenders. A fade to the tight end in the end zone....
