NFL Network Thursday 7:20pm:
Indianapolis @ Tennessee

Okay Peyton, these are your jerseys, and these are their jerseys.
So that's two different kinds of blue.  Got it?  Good.

Sunday

CBS early:

Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh – Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

CBS late:

New England @ Chicago – Jim Nantz, Phil Simms

Fox late:

Green Bay @ Detroit – Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan

NBC Sunday night:

Philadelphia @ Dallas

ESPN Monday night:

Baltimore @ Houston

I just had to laugh at the idiocy of the Titans not attempting a FG with a minute-plus left to give them at least some small amount of time to recover an onsides kick and score a TD. Instead, they check down virtually every play and score a TD with no time left to lose by 2.

And kill Indy bettors with the useless backdoor cover.

I was even more amazed that Millen caught on to that, albeit a little later than I would have done it.  Right when Indy kicked the FG to go up by 9, I immediately started saying "check down til you're in FG range, kick the FG, then try the onside."  I don't know why coaches don't understand this.  Even with 10 seconds left, the could have had a better chance by kicking it, getting an onside and launching one than they did by scoring the TD.

He should have gone for it on 4th down instead of punting to Indy before their final field goal.

Worst part is that you don't even need to have played or been involved in the real game to get this. Anyone who's played Madden knows to kick the FG and try for the onside kick.

The thing is, and Millen pointed this out correctly as well, you need to do an onside kick either way. I don't know where to get a win probability listing, but I'm guessing it would have gone up if they had kicked the FG when they were in range (say, 40 yard FGish).

He should have gone for it on 4th down instead of punting to Indy before their final field goal.

Exactly, and this makes the end-of-game management all the more frustrating. He had already screwed up by punting on the 4th and 1, then screwed up the rest of the game. Just terrible game management.

Every head coach needs a nerd in his headset telling him probabilities and helping him make late-game decisions. The problem is that if the probabilities don't "play out," the media will tear the coach apart (see Belichick; 4th down or Morningwheg; taking the wind in overtime).

No, turning his contract decision into a prime-time television event made him the most hated man in America.

Interesting development in the Giants-Vikings game:
The Giants are stranded in Kansas City because the snowstorm has closed all Minneapolis airports.  There's a possibility they'll try to fly in Sunday morning and have the game moved back three hours.  Not sure what kind of effect this will have on them.

I'm not sure how they would handle this. As of now, it seems the NFL won't be pushing the game back, but this storm is moving at an incredibly slow pace. It was supposed to start at 7am in my neck of the woods, yet just started an hour ago (around 5pm). If they push it back to 3pm, it shouldn't have too much of an effect on anything, but past that they'll be entering prime-time territory, and I'm not sure what the rules are for that with TV coverage.

This storm has been talked about all week. How they didn't just plan on being in Minnesota by Thursday or early Friday is beyond me.

Pushed back to late Monday. Now the Giants will have a very short week to face Philadelphia, me likey!

We'll have wins against both after Week 16, so it won't matter re: PHI v NYG.

Actually, wouldn't it be better if the Giants beat Philly? Since we already have head-to-head over Philly, we want the Giants to win the division so we'll have the WC tiebreaker over Philly.

ESPN has to be going crazy over this. The game is being broadcast on Fox at 8pm ET on Monday, but only in New York and Twin Cities markets. In other words, ESPN just lost the New York market for Monday Night Football.

And the Metrodome's roof collapses. Who knows when they get this game happening.

Somewhere out there Brett Favre is jumping for joy that the roof collapsed.
