Cannot wait for this game. After the Cards opened as 2.5 point favorites, if you believe the odds listed on ESPN.com, the Packers are actually favored now. Should be interesting to keep an eye on the line as we get closer to gameday -- the Packers seem to be a trendy pick to go to the Super Bowl, so hopefully the players don't get too far ahead of themselves and take it one game at a time.

I'm still scared of Warner and their WR's against our defense after the PIT game.

But I don't see how they are going to stop our offense unless Rodgers has playoff jitters. I'd be nice for Grant to play like he did in his playoff debut 2 years ago.

I'm hoping we can get to a fast start and make them one dimensional fast on defense. I do not wanna see this game close late with the ball in Arizona's hand. The closer the game is- the advantage is definitely towards Arizona.

I'm not that confident in this game however. Something about the way we beat them in a meaningless game makes me feel uneasy.

Go Dallas in the other playoff game, I'd prefer not to play Minnesota if we win and I think Dallas would have a good shot at taking them out.

Please be wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this game. My prediction 31-27 Arizona.

I would rather play Minnesota than Dallas right now.

Rodgers is gonna light them up.

Pack 41
Cards 13

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

I don't think it's coincidence that Jarrett Bush had one of his better games last week when the opposition had no real incentive to target him, and both teams tried to stay vanilla. I would anticipate that Arizona will try to use formations and motion to try and free up Fitzgerald....trying to keep Woodson off of him.

It will be interesting to see whether Capers will dial up the pressure on the unmobile-but-quick-releasing Warner. I tend to think he's going to pick his moments as long as it's close. A lot of that may depend on whether the left side of the Cardinals line does a better job of blocking Matthews the second time around.

The one statistical advantage that Arizona has over Green Bay is in the red zone, both on offense and on defense. It's already been a trecherous proposition to settle for 3 with the Packers, given that Crosby isn't on top of his game. Settling for FGs here may put you behind if the Cardinals can move the ball.

I think that the Packers win on the relative strength of their defense, but I see this one pivoting on the big plays. GB ultimately gets the nod based on their ability to generate turnovers in that respect, but a poor showing on special teams could still negate that advantage.

I think this is the key, and I think it has been all season. We gave up the 7th least points, scored the 3rd most points, had the best turnover ratio, and only went 11-5? I feel like we gave away at least 2 games because of special teams, if not more, and blunders in that area in the playoffs can end a season quickly.

The latest Cardinals injury report courtesy of the jsonline blog:
Kent Somers, the Cardinals beat writer for the Arizona Republic, just gave an injury update on his blog and it's not good from Arizona's perspective:
  • On WR Anquan Boldin: "He told me he has a high left ankle sprained and a sprained left medial collateral ligament. He worked with a trainer during practice but it's questionable if he'll play Sunday against the Packers."
  • CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: "He did some work on the side, too, but said his sore left knee is no better than it was Monday. Rodgers-Cromartie can run but backpedaling and moving laterally are problems."
  • DE Calais Campbell: "He has a cast that runs from his fractured left thumb up to his lower forearm. He did a limited amount in practice and expects to play. It's going to be hard for him to grab a defensive lineman, however."

That's just the big ones.

That looks like about the worst report the Cards could have gotten. DRC would be a huge loss, even if he's just less effective. Without Boldin, they still have the best receiver in the league and a well above average #2, but without DRC, Rodgers will tear them apart.

I agree, JerJazzy. DRC & Boldin either out of the game entirely or at seriously reduced effectiveness is a very big deal imo for the Pack.

The Packers should beat the Cards, but I'm afraid of allowing myself to believe we are the superior team after most of us did that before the NFC championship game. We shellacked the Giants in the regular season, then lost to them in the postseason. I'd like to think of ourselves as the '09 version of the '07 Giants and the Vikings as the '09 version of the '07 Packers, however.

Many of the team's key players have playoff experience from two years ago, but the most important (Rodgers) has zero. I really hope he can maintain his cool. After the Packers have aired it out to successfully against the Cards in the two games thus far, part of me wonders if they might come out and try to run it down their throats. Probably unlikely, since that's not this team's M.O., but it would probably catch them off guard.

Considering the way Rodgers has handled the pressure of following Favre, I don't think we have to worry too much about him losing his cool in the playoffs. It doesn't seem like much really bothers him, but I think a lot of worries will finally be put to rest if they can get that first playoff win out of the way in his first appearance.

The worst possible scenario, IMO, is the Packers making a first round exit while Favre plays well in the postseason for a change. I don't want to spend an offseason hearing it from fake Viking fans (the ones that were conveniently Jet fans last year) that the Packers should've stuck with Favre despite so much evidence to the contrary.

I feel exactly the same about Rodgers, crewcrazy. He just hasn't done anything in his (short) career to indicate that he'd feel any kind of pressure. He actually strikes me as quite the opposite -- a guy that loves the pressure/spotlight/big-time.

It definitely sucks being the last game of wildcard weekend. Ugh. At least the winner of this game will know where they're headed if they win, based on the results of the Dallas/Philly game.

Doesn't look good for Boldin, who says he has both a sprained MCL and a high ankle sprain (Rotoworld link). If he does manage to play, he'll be far from 100%.

Depending on the severity of the high ankle sprain, they could go to the Super Bowl and he might not play again this year. Even then, he won't be 100% again until training camp.

I don't buy that Boldin injury for a second. I bet he plays.

Yeah, he's going to play. He's been banged up all year - he won't miss a playoff game if he can help it. I really, really, really hope he misses the game, though. I'll settle for DRC on the bench if I have too, though.

As for worst case scenario that was mentioned earlier, I think worst case would be losing to the Vikings in the NFC Championship Game. Them beating us to go to the Super Bowl? Puke.

With a high ankle sprain, I don't see how he could be any more effective than 50-60%, but I keep reminding myself that he played with a broken face. If he's out there, then DRC and Campbell will most definitely be out there in some form. Boldin's injury is by far the worst, and the other guys don't want to be in street clothes while he's out there playing.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora has a blog update from last night on Boldin's game status, saying he is "highly, highly unlikely to play in Sunday's wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers, according to a source with knowledge of the situation."

According to the blog, "internally [Boldin] is being considered a no go at this point."

Don't underestimate the contract status with whether or not Boldin plays in this game.

Yeah, I think Boldin has too much riding on this postseason to sit out. He'll try to play, even if he's ineffective and acts as a decoy. It also sounds like DRC is going to play, or at least is being pressured to play by teammates -- Adrian Wilson basically told him to man up:

Asked about cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie's knee injury, Wilson expressed no sympathy:

"He's got a little cut on his knee. It's not all it's cracked up to be. He thought he blew his knee out; he got a little cut."
