I cannot fathom how there weren't two personal fouls called on Arizona. The shove on Finley should cost that zebra his career as it happened right in front of him. Then the non-roughing the QB call happened. What a paid-off joke.
I actually didn't mind the non-call on the Finley push. It wasn't much of a push - pretty inconsequential. I mean, it was definitely a push and could've been called, but I think it was kind of a "no harm, no foul" thing at that critical point in the game.

Rodgers was facemasked. Adams never let his facemask go after knocking the ball. In theory it was an INT since the ball never hit the ground, but those are the breaks I suppose. Had we made more than two defensive stops it never comes to that.

Rotten refs, rotten offensive line...looks like this team was not meant to win this game.
Packers need to shore up a few defensive positions and thier o-line and they will be absolutely scary next year. I will be honest I never thought that their defense would be even this good this quickly into switching into a new system. Just imagine what another year of TT drafting and hopefully signing a couple free agents would do. I am upset at the loss, but this team is set up to win for a long time. Now as long as the Vikings and Favre go down next week, I will be a happy man.

I'm not going to blame the refs for the loss..this one was on the Packers D and OL...but to not call roughing when a QB gets blasted in the face by a player with his helmet is just not acceptable.

Paid-off would be NBA. Probably need to check this one off as incompetence.
The only way a payoff would be possible would be if Arizona paid them off. There's no way the league didn't want a possible Packers/Favre III.

Time of game doesn't matter. A holding penalty at a critical point of the game needs to be called the same as a personal foul.

Our defense was brutal, so I can't blame it all on the refs, but my God they missed a lot of calls that favored the Cardinals. Wow.

I'm just saying that it wasn't much of a push. Guys shove each other all the time and don't get flagged. It's not like the defender speared Finley into the ground or anything.

The only problem I have with the Finley non-call is that they called the same circumstance earlier in the game. We scored a touchdown on the drive, so it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Anybody else hoping to milk the clock a bit before the touchdown and go for two if there was less than say, 40 seconds? I wanted to do it the whole second half, thinking to myself, if we tie this thing late, we go for two. However, I changed my mind with 1:50 left because I felt we still had to stop them. A FG wins it no matter what, so might as well just tie it. Then he missed the field goal...and maybe what could've been? Also, if we fail the 2pt...we still live for another play with another onside kick...and two timeouts to get 1 stop. I think we had a chance to win the game and McCarthy didn't take advantage. Even though I second-guessed myself to the same decision, I wish he would've had the "win it or go home" mentality.

Seriously why does God save the most heartbreaking playoff losses for Packer fans?

Rotten ending but some positives:

- Rodgers is awesome. I'm sure some people will claim he choked or whatever but the guy was absolutely phenomenal.
- JERMICHAEL is an absolute beast. That guy could have a ridiculous season next year.
- McCarthy showed major stones and smarts on that onside kick. Also, made the correct call going for it on 4th down.
- I don't think I've seen Greg Jennings play that well in a long time.

Very well said, this team is going to be a major player next season. I am super pumped.

I am excited about this team moving forward...this one may hurt until April however. Too disappointed right now to start listing off changes or thoughts on 2010...or even fully grasp 2009...but there's reason to be excited.

Scott Green is one of the worst referees in the league; I'm not surprised. He's responsible for the ending of the NYG/SF playoff game in 2003 -- the one where they missed the pass interference call as time expired. I really have no idea how he wasn't fired or demoted for that blunder.
That was when he was a back judge, not even a referee. He got promoted after that.

So yeah... NFL officiating is just so bad. Two missed calls on the second TD to Fitzgerald (the hold on Jenkins and the Offensive Pass Interference against Woodson). Giordano gets called for a retaliatory push, but not so for Hightower on Pickett or Rolle on Finley (both of which weren't even cheapshotted to begin with) later on in the game. The missed call on the helmet to helmet hit on Rodgers on TJ Lang's holding penalty the last drive. The officials basically pooped in the refrigerator and ate an entire wheel of cheese. I'm not even mad, it's amazing... but what are you gonna do?

But wow, what an epic game. I'm seriously not even that upset about it the loss. Probably because with all the Packers own miscues to start off with, they had no reason winning that game. That and the fact that a repeat performance against a better passing offense in the Saints would have surely lead to another slaughter. Just an awesome, awesome game though, all things considered.

Thanks for an entertaining season, guys.

EDIT: also wanted to point out how eerie it was to hear Troy Aikman saying the Packers got hosed on a few calls. He must hate the Cardinals that much more.

Need corners, O-line and someone to upgrade AJ Hawk. Did he even play today.

Great game and season was a positive...but I still feel we are closer to 7-9 then the Super Bowl.

I think that image, along with the helmet to helmet on Rodgers, the "roughing the passer" call on Jenkins on the Fitzgerald TD when Jenkins was obviously tackled and a hold should have been called, and possibly the shove on Finley (less likely since it ultimately didn't matter) will all be submitted to the league for review. Terrible, terrible officiating. They didn't even try to balance it out. Nobody deserves to win when you allow 54 points and ultimately it's their fault that they couldn't stop them, but come on.

It's funny how bad the officiating is in the NFL. I tend to forget about it in light of the laughable power trips/inpenetrable union of MLB umpires, and God only knows what's happening in the NBA.

You're correct about Scott Green being a back judge -- he's responsible for throwing the flag in that situation. Considering how mortified Paul Tagliabue was after that disaster, it's a wonder how he got promoted. Oh, yeah, that and the ending to the SD/PIT game last year that cost gamblers millions and millions of dollars. I don't want to put the loss on his shoulders, but he and his crew did play a role.
