An almost instant review of that Ginn non-catch. Where was that last week, Fox?

Also, the only thing that could hold Starks back from a feature-role down the stretch is ball security. I'm not saying he's at risk, but if he gets out of this game clean, he's looking at a savior-type opportunity.

Jackson as a rushing back isn't very good, but he is pretty decent as a receiving back

I just posted that at the political scene if you need to see it again Image  I don't think there's any way it would fly here...I'm actually worried it might get deleted over there, too.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

I think pass protection might also be something to watch. I haven't noticed any major gaffes today, but I've heard that concern about him from other places.

Courtesy carries here for Jackson. I agree, he's a great pass protector, a pretty good receiver, and average at best at running. Seems to be better on outside runs and delays than straightforward runs.

Anyone else find the number of sacks given up today a bit disturbing?

He's been in on one pass play, and it was the play action fake that Jennings hauled in at the 3.  So he's had a positive effect so far, but I agree that pass protection will determine if he sees the field on 3rd downs.  Jackson fits that role so well though, so doubt that would happen anyways.  Sure they pass on 1st & 2nd, but defenses hardly bring pressure on those downs.

Wow, I'm really excited about Zombo's "Zorro" sack dance!

Okay, Mike Singletary thinks this is over. Bring on Flynn.

I like Starks alot. He looks so much better than Jackson. Jackson has too much hesitation before he hits the hole.

Starks is just so much more decisive with his cuts than Jackson, and runs with much more power.  The only thing that scares me is that he runs upright like Peterson.

And FOX is just going to keep showing that no-INT streak graphic for Rodgers until they jinx him into it.

Agreed.  He always seems to fall forward for an extra yard or two also.

I'm confused, is SF calling a TO here to conserve clock time? Why essentially concede the game by punting on 4th & 7 at midfield then? Singletary should be toast at the end of this year.

Now the real question.    What was the logo on McCarthy's cap today?

Just got back from the sports bar and my only comment is that the uniforms were sexy as hell.

I would love to see Starks settle in as the main running back with Jackson primarily on third downs. Sort of like how the Vikes did it with Peterson and Chester Taylor.

This game was a blown tackle away and a couple of questionable calls away from being a 30-pt laugher. The defense stiffened in the red zone. Hopefully they'll continue the trend against Brady in 2 weeks.

James Starks - 18 carries, 73 yards
Brandon Jackson - 4 catches, 63 yards

This could be a nice 1-2 for the rest of the year.

Add in Kuhn, who had a touchdown and at least one other short yardage pickup that I saw, and I'm starting to feel much better about the running game. Also, I have to wonder what was going through Korey Hall's head when he made a catch and the crowd busted out their KUUUHHHNNNN! cheers. I guess all white fullbacks look alike.

It was an Acme Packers logo

Stream-of-consciousness thoughts:  I couldn't not look at Jeff Reed's massive thighs.  Jazzytrav's comment about Jennings as a FF opponent was funny.  I agree with Jason that Jackson is a nice fit in the passing game, but not the running game.  Starks was really nice to watch today, basically looked like I hoped he could.  I think you give that guy another week of practice & game action & he can turn into a legit weapon.  Plus Thhhommm Brennnnammmannn told me he was good when he was at Buffalo.

No doubt, with Starks as the main rusher, Jackson as the main receiver and Kuhn as the main short yardage guy we could have a good triple threat at RB.
