The scene opens on a stark, desert planet where a lone man stands alone bracing himself against the wind and sand. His grey-haired mentor taught him everything he knew before bowing to the dark-purple side. But then returning to the light (of Lambeau), the world was set right.

After winning some early battles against the First Order, our hero has been beaten and bears the battle scars of a long NFL season. But in the darkest hour, the failing Packer republic defied the odds of a victory in the capitol city of Coruscant.

The opponent wasn't the biggest battle, but it marked that something changed. The energy and enthusiasm returned. The Republic that once fought itself fought unified against a common foe. The Force Awakened.

And now going back to the desert planet, where they suffered their greatest defeat of the 2015-16 NFL war, they go to conquer the enemy that bested them so recently. For they now have a New Hope.

Realistically, the Packers have "bounced" back once this year already when they beat up on the Vikings, but immediately fell back into mediocrity. So I'm not holding my breath. But it was good to see the bounce back in the step of the players last week. And a Playoff victory is good no matter who you beat.

The only real hope I see in this game being different than the last is:
1) The Packers played close early before the game snowballed out of control in the second half
2) Our massively injured O-line (we had 4 backups in at one time during the Cardinal game) might be back to 100% starters this week (although, not 100% healthy). Protecting Rodgers was non-existent in the second half, which lead to two fumble returns for TDs, which lead to the snowball effect of the game.
3) Shields might be back. Having him shadowing their best WR would greatly help the rest of the defensive game plan.

But somewhere, somehow, we need to channel that live, creative, unexpected offensive game plan to keep the Cardinals defense guessing if we want to have a chance at winning at all. No spiritual guidance from Obi Wan (Favre) or Yoda (Ron Wolf) will help us win this game.

I'm seeing a much closer game than the last one, which bodes well. I think GB will have a chance to win it. I don't think they will, but this will not be a beatdown.

Assuming we find ourselves down a couple scores at some point, this should be like a team facing elimination in MLB playoffs that uses their best relievers, even their best starters, with complete abandon since there is no tomorrow.

Empty the bag of tricks. Flea flickers, fake FGs, WR pass to QB, defensive players on offense, offensive players on defense ... whatever it takes! It would at least be more fun to us spectators than losing via boring, conventional means.

Nice "drive" off the 2nd half kickoff to take the lead. Come on defense, keep it up!

Wow. Big INT in the end zone. Time to get a two score lead.

Shields drops the gift wrapped interception, then a few plays later on good coverage we tip the ball for a lucky AZ touchdown. So frustrating.

I can't believe we ran the ball on second down there. Actually, the sad thing is, I can believe it since McCarthy is such an idiot

EDIT: And then Rodgers throws it into the ground towards an open Jones on fourth down. Ugh.

If there were ever a time for a blocked FG return....

Even without that AZ has left the door a bit ajar if they kick.

Why they didn't spike the ball is nuts.

Edit: Unless, it's to set up the Hail Mary.... [laughing]

Another wasted year under Rodgers. Thanks McCarthy!

McCarthy's just so, so bad.

Where to even start? I mean, the play calling on the penultimate drive was just insane. Running on 2nd down when time is your enemy and you wasted a timeout on a challenge? My god.

And why Capers went with the zone late in the game is mind boggling. The defense was playing great.

The thing that gets me about MM and these coaches is that they coach scared and get outcoached every playoffs. I didn't think we'd win and I'm happy we played them so tough (and the Cards luckboxed like crazy on their go-ahead TD), but it's just a broken record every season.

Well, I certainly disagree with 'wasted' a timeout/challenge.

The ball clearly moved as he went out of bounds- as Badger fans learned, that's an incomplete pass. To say there wasn't enough to overturn it is complete garbage, and cost us a timeout.

I wasn't incensed at MM opting to go to OT (as I knew there was a 100% he was kicking the extra point, so there was no use in getting upset about it), but I did think at the time he should have gone for two to try to win it right there. Bill Barnwell agrees:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14586 ... -learn-nfl

Bottom line: chances of making the 2-point conversion were almost certainly better than winning in OT. As usual, McCarthy tries to put off the loss as long as possible, rather than trying to win the game.

That lost challenge pretty much took everything i thought i knew about the going to the groind rule and threw it in the garbage.

Amazingly im actually not that mad that we lost. Im proud of how the defense played (minus the first play in ot) and the offfense played fairly well considering they were without arguably their top 4 wrs and number 5 was covered and basicly taken out of the game by one of the best cbs in the league. We played so well with basically only our 6th and 7th string wrs that it makes me ask where the heck were they the last 10 weeks of the season!

NFL Blitz has better referees.

I was flying over the Atlantic at the time. Lots of Packer fans on the plane.
