Probably doesn't mean anything, but it'd be nice to finish 11-5 as opposed to 10-6.

Looking ahead to Wild Card Weekend, since there's a 75% chance the Packers will play at AZ again, I think the rematch will be the noon game on Sunday. Fox has the Sunday noon game (NFC), CBS has the Sunday 3:30 game (AFC), while both "prime time" matchups on Saturday are on NBC. I have to think that ratings-wise, the other likely NFC matchup (whoever vs. Minnesota, or the Philly/Dallas possible rematch) will trump the GB/AZ rematch.

If it's in AZ, I'm 99% sure it won't be a noon game.

I wonder who's ultimately in charge of scheduling, if it's the league or networks. I can't see NBC wanting the AZ/Packer game on Saturday if it means they pass up Minnesota or a Dallas/Philly rematch. Is the one hour time difference that prohibitive?

Why the heck would a playoff game start at 10am...no way, no how. If it's Arizona, which I dont think it will be, I'd be 99% certain it's the Sat. Night game.

It's a one hour time difference, not two. They're not in the Pacific Time Zone. So it would be 11 am. No need to jump down my throat guy. Just speculating.

Nobody jumped down your throat. I'm talking about the advertisers on the west coast, not where the game was played. Regular games get away with it, but I don't see a playoff game starting at 10am on the Pac Coast.

My bad, I totally neglected that people on the West Coast might actually want to watch this game. Good point.

SOME game has to start at 10am Pac, I just don't think they'll make it the game involving the nearest city in that round.

According to PFT, the league decides the scheduling, not the networks. The Cards were in one of the NBC games last year, for what it's worth.

According to that link...is it set in stone that FOX has the 12 and CBS the 3:30 on Sunday?

I'm not entirely sure -- if you look at NFL.com, they have networks listed for each round, but no game times.

If you take a sneak peek at the TV Guide listings for that afternoon, they have it listed that way as well FWIW.

When GB played Carolina in the NFC Championship, the start time was 9:30am. I was young and working as a waiter out in California which meant I drank a lot. I fell asleep in the first quarter and woke up at halftime.

Ah to be young and drunk again....

Very interesting...Excellent note.

Interesting as well. Like I said, it happens, but if there is an option, I dont think it's starting the most western team in the USA on a 11am start time. That said, the NFC Championship was played at 11:30, despite the fact that Foxborough could have played at 12:30. I'm not saying it's an absolute, but I'd be shocked if Arizona played on Sunday, especially the morning slot.

Per Greg Bedard,

Packers think they'll start playoffs on Saturday
By Greg A. Bedard of the Journal Sentinel
Jan. 1, 2010 8:17 p.m.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy today began to alter the Packers schedule to prepare for the likelihood the team will play next Saturday to open the playoffs.

"I think we have a high probability of playing on Saturday," he said.

The Packers don't know for sure, and the NFL hasn't released a schedule, but team's are kept apprised of the situation by the National Football League.

The Packers didn't have a team portion of practice today in order to save their legs.

"We had a longer padded practice yesterday than normal on Thursday, that we had everything in, and it was important for me today to go down there and review it," McCarthy said. "But also, we're looking ahead to potentially being on a six-day work week and so forth. Today was more of an opportunity to review everything that's been in, but with that, giving the players a chance to get their legs back with a day of rest and recovery and just projecting to a potential six-day work week yesterday."

I think Saturday does make the most sense. If they play the Cards, it's a gametime that's not too early for locals, assuming FOX is locked in for the noon game on Sunday. If they play the Cowboys, the national followings of both teams would make it a no-brainer. If they play the Vikings, Favre Bowl III would be ratings gold and well worth a primetime spot on NBC.

Gooooooo Packers! Win! Or maybe lose! It really doesn't matter much, and it might be better to lose! But win! Or not!

I'm actually looking forward to seeing a heavy dose of Matt Flynn tomorrow. Just want to see what he has. Also Brandon Jackson should get a good amount of carries.
