I haven't read the JS article. If we can book LSU, that would be outstanding. A Lambeau field venue would be icing on the cake.

Sadly, LSU's AD flatly said he won't consider playing at Lambeau, but would be interested in Houston or Dallas.

Translation: You have to come to us, we won't come to you. As is the case with most SEC teams.

LSU's 2014 non-conference schedule is a joke currently. Louisiana Monroe, Georgia Southern, and New Mexico State? Good luck with that SOS in the new playoff....

Adds fuel to my bias that they just don't make them that smart down yonder.

Wouldn't want to put the vaunted SEC Speed™ to the test in colder temps...

Of course, they probably wouldn't even entertain the idea of playing at Lambeau past September anyway.

Looks like they would consider one at Lambeau and one in Houston if everything (read: Money) could be worked out.

Link

At least they admit they are talking about it. Article makes it sound like the fans are interested too.

I really hope this gets done. That would be really cool.

I'm fine with a Houston/Lambeau split. Lambeau will obviously basically be a home game for UW, while Houston has one of the largest LSU alumni bases in the country.

Having that game at Lambeau would be ridiculously awesome, even if it's in September.

Was reported by FOX Houston as being a done deal for the Kickoff Classic in 2014.

Then New Orleans paper says No.

FOX Houston is almost certainly wrong. The Badgers are already at Washington State next season, and only would have 6 home games if they played in Houston as well. If the two teams meet in 2014, it'll be in Lambeau.

I'm unknowledgeable about the finances of the game. Wouldn't Wisc generate revenue for playing in this thing owned by ESPN to offset only 6 home games? IIRC, in the past haven't games been rescheduled or cancelled for subsequent seasons?

Both Washington State and Wisc have an opening to move their game to the 13th. Wisconsin also hasn't filled it's opening for the 6th, which it could fill with a 7th home game vs a D2 foe or other school with an opening.

LSU would be their 12th game, which is the maximum games allowed, so there's no opportunity to have a 7th home game.

The revenue question is a bit more mixed- Michigan reportedly received less than usual home game revenue for their game vs. Alabama in Dallas last year. Not sure what the situation would be in Houston, but it seems possible if not likely that the revenue would be less than a home game. More money than a usual road game? Absolutely.

I'm guessing someone got their wires crossed- Wisconsin is already playing the kickoff classic in Dallas in 2015, so it seems unlikely that they'd have the opener two years in a row.

The matchup with LSU is enticing, no doubt. With that said, how sweet would it be if we could get our hands on Arkansas instead? A home and home would be great. Go down there and beat them in their back yard and then make them come back to Camp Randall and feel the wrath of 80,000.

The game against Washington State is off the preliminary schedule released late yesterday, so it seems likely that they're prepping for a possible LSU matchup. My guess is that LSU/Washington St will become an either/or situation.

Mark Murphy also mentioned the other night at the Tailgate Tour that he thought it was likely that there would be a CFB game at Lambeau soon.

BOOOO!!!! I have friends who live in Spokane that I was hoping to visit in conjunction with a Badger away game. Hopefully it means they are just pushing it back to 2015 and not eliminating it.

Looks like it is almost a done deal. I have to admit I am really surprised an SEC team would travel to the heart of Big 10 country for a game. Some of the lesser schools will do it (Vandy @ Northwestern for instance) but the good SEC teams usually schedule at best one above average non-conference game and three patsies. And no way would they consider doing this in October.

Yeah, I'm surprised this came together as well, and I was definitely wrong about them going to Houston first. I do worry, however, that LSU will find a way to back out of the second game after we go down there next year.

That. Is. Awesome.

Wisco and LSU have similar yet different sports, food, and drinking cultures and would make great B1G-SEC crossover rivals.
