So Paterno's wins are restored today in addition to the previously restored scholarships and post-season eligibility. Paterno and Penn State supporters are claiming victory and the NCAA is stating that continuing litigation would delay the distribution and use of fines towards sex/child abuse victims. Critics of the NCAA are saying that they overstepped their bounds and had a "shoddy approach to crisis management". I find it a lot bit hypocritical. When an athlete is accused of spousal/child/sexual abuse there is a demand by the public to distribute punishment immediately. But when a university allows an accused sex offender access to university facilities for years after the fact without investigating and then the NCAA takes a hard stance against that university it says the NCAA overstepped their bounds??? Like someone said earlier in the thread, if there is an instance of a lack of institutional control this is it. Penn State deserved every bit of the penalty that was handed down.
