Welcome to the draft thread!

The Lions have reached a 6-year deal with Matt Stafford, so there's your number one pick, officially.

Is anyone else baffled at how much money the Lions are going to be giving Stafford, a guy who never looked that great in college to begin with? I know people say that since the SEC was a tough conference that you can't expect him to put up monster numbers, but at least when Jay Cutler was coming out a few years ago everyone recognized he was a superstar. Stafford just always seemed like the average SEC QB to me, and nothing special.

Some think that his offensive line was an issue while at Georgia. I've also read online that some scouts think he compares to Cutler. I don't really care if he does or not...that's a ton of money. Quarterbacks are always picked higher than they should in the draft it seems. My 'curve ball' for today is that Sanchez is going number 2.

Did anyone else see that McGinn from the JS has the Packers taking Crabtree in his last mock? He's the Packers number 1 rated player in the draft.

I still don't see Crabtree getting past Seattle-Cleveland-Cincinnati, but it'd be fun to think about.

A bit of surprise in Scott Wright's final mock -- he has Eugene Monroe falling to the Pack.

There is a rumor that New York is interested in Bulger, which would lead to St. Louis taking Sanchez #2.

Also, there was a rumor going around the radio yesterday that Washington is dangling #13 for Aaron Kampman.

I heard an interview with Jordy Nelson yesterday, and the interviewers asked him about taking Crabtree, he said something like, "I was just talking with James Jones about it this morning, and we both agreed that if he's the best player, we should take him. We'd welcome him here if it makes us a better team."

I guess that's something to consider if we're not going to re-sign him.

I would not mind if Monroe falls to us. I know that some people are worried about his knees. But he's most likely the better tackle compared to Baylor's smith. Hopefully the packers get Raji or Monroe

I have my two crazy predictions for today:

1. Josh Freeman will go higher than anyone thought he would...I'm thinking top 15 and possibly top 10.
2. Nothing overly exciting will happen with the Packers pick. Something like Raji and #9 and Barwin in the 2nd round. No one will start a thread questioning the picks.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

princeginterhallhelms...can you change your signature? I think that's why the thread is so wide.

Rams have apparently bought a plane ticket for Mark Sanchez.

Pfft, $300 smokescreen. Maybe even refundable.

That would be pretty exciting to me, because those are pretty much my top options for both picks.

Well, it's exciting, but not dramatic.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

Honestly, as much as I love Aaron, I'd be all over this. We can draft a true 3/4 OLB that is probably in a better position to succeed than what we're hoping for out of Kampman in the same role. Not to mention the looming free agency.

1. Josh Freeman will go higher than anyone thought he would...I'm thinking top 15 and possibly top 10.

Since it seems like Sanchez is now looking likely to be picked in the top 5, I think this seems quite possible.

Let the record show that I predicted that before there was talk of Sanchez being picked #2 Image Well, other than what JJ said, but I was ignoring him.

Jets publicly confirm that they're looking to move up, and not necessarily for Sanchez.....

If a team makes a trade with a minute left on the clock, does the team that receives the pick have an additional 10 minutes? Not sure why that would happen since trading up would usually mean they know who they want, but i wouldn't put it past a few GMs out there.

Ignoring me? Why?

The only thing I think about Freeman is that he'll be a first round pick. If Sanchez goes number two, all the teams that were looking at get him could very well move Freeman up the board. ESPN was saying he may have to sit 2 years before he'd be ready to start.

I'm pretty sure it's 10 minutes per draft slot. The team that gets the pick via trade would get whatever time is left on the clock.

I was ignoring you because I thought I madethe prediction first, but apparently you already had predicted something that makes my prediction not as big of a deal, which makes my prediction not as good.

I'm just playing around dude...it's draft day, i'm automatically in a good mood all day Image
