Yeah, I glanced at that earlier while I was browsing around ESPN. While I can sorta understand picking Davis at TE, his reason for it doesn't really make sense. Did anyone tell him about Donald Lee? He seems to be making the argument that because Franks didn't pan out, we need to have a big-play, go-to TE...almost like he forgot about Lee.

And according to Scouts, Inc., one of our biggest needs is a punter. Really? Good to know that these guys base their opinions on one game a year. Apparently they missed the other 15 games when Jon Ryan was very good.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

Although I wouldn't mind picking Davis, I think the pick should be used to address some of the more pressing needs (CB, OT).

If the draft were to play out this way I would love to see us pick Michael Oher of Mississippi. Then picking up 2 or 3 CB's later in the draft and see what pans out.

I question a number of their picks and areas of need but Glenn Dorsey to the Dolphins at #1 overall is the right choice. They need more team leaders and within a year he will take charge and be one of the biggest team leaders. Plus he's really, really, very good. He's the type of DT, like a Kevin Williams and a Tommy Harris, that can upgrade your pass rush and run defense.

I can't see Balmer going in the top ten no matter how well he does in workouts. And he will do very well in workouts. Especially when Dan Connor or Keith Rivers would have been better picks at areas of need. And neither would be as much of a reach. I also don't see any way a team would pick Aqib Talib over Kenny Phillips when it needs both safeties and corners. Of course, the team he has doing this is the Lions and with Matt Millen in control anything is possible but I still don't see that happening.

In this draft I would rather see us draft a TE in the second round rather than the first. Maybe trade up in the second to land one of Fred Davis, John Carlson, or Martellus Bennett whichever one is still available. Davis has nice upside but right now is completely one dimensional. I would prefer our second TE to have some blocking value. Thus I prefer Carlson and Bennett over Davis.

Or you can look at it that Scouts, Inc. doesn't see too many holes. I was kind of surprised they didn't list RB - even with Grant and Jackson we could maybe use some depth.

I understand they may not have seen many holes, but I would think kicker and punter are at the very, very bottom of our needs. I'll take another DT before we start taking punters.

Considering how dominant the d-line was before the DT depth was lost, I would have no problem taking another DT early on in the draft, especially if we lose Çorey Williams.

I hope for a CB in the 1st round and a TE to compliment Lee in round 2.

If Reggie Smith is available I would love to see us draft him. While at Oklahoma he has started a good amount at both corner and safety. He's very good at both positions. He could help us at either position. If our safeties step up and we don't need him at safety he would be an upgrade at nickel for us while being groomed to eventually succeed either Harris or Woodson at corner.

The linked story is now for subscribers/insiders only, but I seem to remember Felix Jones still being available when the Packers pick. I know help in the defensive backfield is the popular choice for the team's first (and more) picks, but if Jones is still sitting there at #30 I hope the Packers wouldn't let him slide any further. RB may not seem like an immediate need, but based on BPA, the players don't get much better than Jones at that spot.

I still contend that he'll be taken much sooner which would make this a non-issue, although he's even a guy I wouldn't mind seeing the Packers trade up 8-10 spots if he's still available in the early 20s.

I won't link this because Kiper's latest mock is for Insiders only, but I thought I would share a few tidbits.

-He has the Keith Rivers dropping all the way to the Packers at #30. He actually doesn't have any LBs being taken before the Packers pick, which leaves both Rivers and Dan Connor available. I would be very happy with a LB pick here.

-He has Aqib Talib, someone myself and several others here seem interested in for the Packers, going to the Pats at #7. Seems like a stretch to me.

If Rivers is available at that pick you take him. He's a stud. He's the best LB in this draft and so far his work during Senior Week is only helping his draft stock. He's looked fantastic. I can't see him falling out of the top 15. Not after the week he's having right now. I could see Connor falling much like Poz did last year but I can't see Rivers falling to us.

I would still be happy with Connor.

I am really irritated by that Insiders crap. There are so many articles written by McShay and Kiper that I would love to read and can't because of that. I think it's kind of dumb that you have to pay for certain articles at ESPN.com. Just really bugs me.

How would they sell their magazine otherwise?

Apparently it's a lifetime thing after you signup. I paid something like $30 about 2 years ago and I've had Insider and ESPN The Mag ever since. Maybe that's a screw-up on their end, but I'm not complaining.

I too would love to have Connor. A LB corps of Hawk, Barnett, and Connor would fast and very good. Connor is tall enough to play SAM. He would just need to add 10 pounds or so. Right now Connor's 233lbs. Even though I like Connor too I would rather see us use our first rounder on a DB but I would be happy with Connor too.

Talib going that high does not surprise me - considering his performance in their Bowl game returning the INT for the score I think he helped his stock tremendously. If he runs some 40's around 4.40 he will likely go in the top half of the first round. However, for those of you that high on him (and down on Al Harris), he gave up a lot of catches and yards to Missouri even though he did get an INT in that game. So like Harris he can have a bad game too (Missouri's top 3 WRs combined for 26 catches and 270 yards - two of them are very mediocre and the one good one is a freshman).

I agree with you here. If he has a good individual workout, he's going to be drafted very high. I'm excited about him because of his combination of size (6' 2") and speed. I think he could be a really good cover corner and with all the NFL rule changes that have happened over the years I think younger versions of Woodson and Harris will have to adapt or won't last long in the NFL. It may not be fair, but the NFL wants to see points on the board.
