Who do the Packers select?

Would TT package his first and a 3rd to move up to the Rams #13 slot and grab Ha-Ha? I also wouldn't mind Mosely and move Perry to an ILB slot.

Everything I've seen links the Packers to Amaro or Ebron. But we HAVE to get more talent at pass rushing and in the secondary.

Yeah, I don't get all of the mocks projecting a TE, it makes no sense to me; seems like laziness on the part of the sites. HaHa and Mosely seem like the most obvious choices because they fill needs and could help right away. It's early, but right now I'd move up to get one of them.

I'd be all over Denard if he was there. Seems like a legit corner talent that is projected to be there in the 20-25 range.

Just as long as its defense defense defense.

NFL Blitz has better referees.

I think we need to go up the middle of the defense. ILB, S, and NT. We have good depth at CB, OLB, and DE with all the drafting we've done at those positions. Competition and health should breed good play from those spots. We are losing Raji and Pickett inside, Hawk and Jones are average players at best, and free safety has been a glaring need since Collins went down.

I watched tape of Haha recently and wasn't very impressed. He will probably be a decent player, but definitely didn't look better than some other safeties out there. I liked Deone Bucannon out of Wash St in the 2nd or 3rd round. He's tall and a bit of a ball hawk, and his tape shows good recovery speed and tenacity. He's a hard hitter. He seems similar to Harrison Smith to me, which is exactly what we need back there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nSTaBtWItE

There is also decent depth at DT and NT, so two bodies should be able to be found after day one. Therefore, in the first I would take the best ILB available. I actually like CJ Moseley better at ILB than OLB, so I wouldn't mind taking him at 21. At the very least he has nice versatility.

I definitely want the depth up the middle this draft, but thankfully those positions seem fairly deep this year. So in the first, BPA is fine with me.

Could we (gasp) look for a FA saftey and then draft at DL, ILB and then look to add OL depth? I really would not mind a later-round QB, either.

You mean like an all-pro talent such as Byrd from Buffalo? It would make perfect sense, but it'll never happen.

If it's not a reach, I don't see why not. Finley doesn't have a future here. Quarless was very good, and I would feel comfortable going into next season with him as the starter, but considering this is a team that once carried five TEs, I would hardly be surprised if TT feels we're a bit thin at the position for next year.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

I don't have an issue drafting a TE, I just think we have bigger needs on defense and wouldn't pick one in the first round unless he is head and shoulders above the next BPA.

I agree that up the middle D is what we really need and I would like to definitely add speed at ILB.

Letting Quarless walk will hurt the run game. His strength has been his blocking abilities, and is ok in the passing game. I think Bostick is the Finley replacement. I was excited to see what Bostick would do with Rodgers, but Rodgers went down the game after Finley did and Bostick went on IR when Rodgers came back. I think he could be a beast next year.

I think they bring back Quarless as the co-starter, Bostick is the receiving TE, Taylor is your Special Teams ace and if a size-speed guy like Finley or Jordan Cameron types that take a couple of years to develop are there in the middle rounds, you jump on it.

I think Ha-Ha and Mosley are both a little overrated. Mosley is kind of small - likely too small to play OLB in a 3-4. That being said, it's likely that both will be off the board by #21. They've been predicting the Packers drafting a TE in the top 2 rounds for two years now. But this year it may happen with Finley and Quarless both UFAs and Finley coming off of a neck injury. Neck injuries don't end well (Nick Collins, Terrence Murphy, Gary Berry, Tim Lewis, etc.) for the Packers.

In a preview of my annual draft prediction...

The pick: Kyle Van Noy, LB, BYU - while he played outside at BYU, I think he can easily move inside. A tremendous playmaker, very good in coverage, good blitzer, can play outside if the injury bug hits again, good character. I think BPA at #21.
If he's still available: Louis Nix, NT, Notre Dame - Pickett and Raji are both free agents and I wouldn't be surprised if both aren't back. His knee injury/surgery may push him down the board to the Pack. If he's there the Pack snap him up.
Don't be surprised if it's: a Left Tackle - several of them in this draft (Lewan, Kouandjio, Richardson, Robinson & Erving if they come out) could slip down to the Packers. The reality is that Bulaga has missed 23 of the last 32 games, 27 games in the last three years, and is a free agent after next season. Do the Packers want to commit to an expensive long-term deal with someone who has been hurt so much? Bakhtiari has looked decent although very penalty-prone this year, but if a franchise LT is sitting there at #21 you have to ask yourself how much you want to risk the health of Rodgers. San Francisco has 1st round picks at both tackle positions plus one guard position, and it showed how they kept GB's front seven in check.

I like Van Noy as well. Very productive in college.

Mosley should probably put on 10+ pounds in the NFL, but he's fast and seems to be instinctual when I watched him. He may not have the size to blow up plays and make the highlight reel, but he's always around the ball-carrier and usually at the line of scrimmage, not five yards behind it (see, A.J. Hawk).

Maybe he's overrated because there's other guys in the draft that can do what he does, and Mosley gets a bump for being visible on the Alabama defense, but I think he will be a solid pro.

Here's a fun interactive draft simulator. Don't know the algorithms behind it, but it's cool to play with:

http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/

I'd go defense, too, but on the one I did, Sammy Watkins came really close to falling to the Packers. If GM's went totally brain dead and he fell to the Pack, I'd run that card up to Goodell before he even said the Packers are on the clock, defense be damned.

Just did a 3-round simulation. I drafted:

21. C.J. Mosley - ILB - Alabama
53. Kyle Fuller - CB - Virginia Tech
85. Shayne Skov - ILB - Stanford

Calvin Pryor, decent size, has some ball hawking skills. Would like to see the packers draft for need this year and they have yet to replace Collins at Safety.

I still don't know if I'd go with a safety in the 1st round... DL, ILB, and S are all pretty high needs. CB too, if Shields doesn't sign.

Mosely seems kind of hard to pass up if he is there like a few Mocks have suggested. Your secondary immediately looks better if he shores up the run defense and feel less pressure to stack the box.

I wonder if CB is the new RB, an overvalued position propped up by the effectiveness of others. Just look at Carolina, San Francisco, and Seattle. Those were the most effective defenses in the playoffs this year, and there's little invested high in the draft at that position for those teams. What they do have is a fierce pass rush and outsanding linebacker play (and in the case of Seattle, an additional all-world safety covering up in Earl Thomas).

So I guess I would pass up on CB at the top, as strange as it seems in this passing league.
