He a 4.4 in the 40 yard dash, so I'm wondering why he didn't play CB in college. But i kind of like the pick. I expected Ted to pick someone no one else predicted. Just seems low he likes the up and coming DBs.

Probably a shoo-in at the dime pushes for the starting CB or nickle at least

With House & Williams gone, Heyward will be pushed more into the outside. I'm assuming Randall is going to take over as the slot corner to free up Heyward & Hyde a bit. Also, it gives the team some flexibility if they decide Morgan Burnett isn't worth the money next offseason, but both Clinton-Dix & Randall are in the Free Safety mold rather than a Strong Safety like Burnett.

Now lets get some help for the front 7 today.

Mid 2nd round, and the plug-and-play ILBs are gone (Kendricks, McKinney, Anthony, & my favorite in Perryman). BIG drop-off on most of the prospect rankings after those four. This is why I was hoping they would trade down.

EDIT: 2 picks away...
Paul Dawson (a "Need" pick at LB)?
Grady Jarrett?

EDIT#2:

Quinten Rollins, CB, Miami (OH). Converted Basketball player; only played 1 season of CFB. Seems like an odd pick, but he's certainly athletic enough.

So, we need to find this year's Chris Borland. Third round underrated ILB that can make a splash and win a couple defensive rookie of the week awards.

...maybe we're going to run a 3-2-6 defense this year?

Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford

Baffling. Last position we needed.

EDIT: I guess dedicated KR?

It may also suggest they're not confident about Abbredaris' recovery or Janis' development.

We run 3-2-6 and 3-3-5 over 50% of the time.

I'm not crazy about the WR pick, but I'm not surprised by the CB picks. Granted, they both sound a little raw. I suppose getting both reduces the risk of one not being ready.

I think if Burnett walks, Hyde would be the first to step in at SS. He is a better tackler and blitzer anyway.

WR pick is puzzling but it seems like Ted is back to "best player on the board" philosophy. He's not gonna take an ILB unless it's decent value. If not, he'll take best option available.

Montgomery is a return whiz.

Ryan is a solid high floor/low ceiling type of pick. I think he'll probably surpass Hawk's performance in GB which, while some might consider faint praise, would be an outstanding achievement for a 4th round pick.

5th Round: QB selected with Brett Hundley from UCLA. Not a bad place to pick up someone that might develop into a serviceable NFL QB.
