Holmgren's having a nice draft in Cleveland, IMO. They needed talent and lots of it, and getting Little and Cameron in the 3rd and 4th seems like pretty good value. Another year or two like this and they might be competitive in that division again.

I would love to see the Browns competitive again.  That would be really cool.

Overview

House is a physical corner that excels in press coverage, and could develop into a starter in a Cover-2 scheme. He uses his big strong hands to jar receivers on the line of scrimmage and he can flip his hips and run. He also shows the ability to anticipate routes in zone and has enough speed to close with the ball in the air. However, he is a bit stiff in transition and will struggle to mirror receivers on double moves. His ultra-aggressive style of play makes him vulnerable to ball fakes and he will probably be flagged often. House looks like a middle round pick.
Strengths
House is a big physical corner. Delivers a good press at the line to reroute receivers. Reads quarterback's eyes in zone coverage and shows the ability to anticipate routes. Possesses big hands and good timing to knock away passes. Flashes a mean streak and is a willing tackler in run support.
Weaknesses
Lacks elite recovery speed and the hip fluidity to consistently stick with shiftier wide receivers in man coverage. Over confident at times and can get burned by play action. A step slow reacting to the play and struggles to disengage from blockers. Physical play could result in a lot of flags at the next level.

I really like the Davon House pick as well.  I have been very intrigued by him and considered him the 5th best CB in the draft (...as if my rankings matter).  Like lcbj68c's synopsis states, he projects as having the ability to be a solid press corner and nice ball skills.  He also ran a 4.35 40 at his Pro Day, so he has that going for him...which is nice.

I'm trying to prepare myself for the anger House may well cause next season. I don't dislike the pick, just sayin'.

This kind of thing is one reason I really enjoy reading through the draft discussions. Your rankings definitely matter to someone like me, a less-informed (but still diehard Packers) fan.  I know I pick up more reliable opinions & information from this site than I would from listening to Jon bleeping Gruden or whoever.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised the first defensive pick was in Rd. 4, & that the first defensive player selected was a DB. I think someone already mentioned earlier in this thread that it sort of says what TT & MM think of guys like Jones, Walden, Neal, etc.

DJ Williams, TE from Arkansas.  Are they thinking about keeping 4 again this year?

I hope he's good enough to push Quarless out of a roster spot.

I don't think you give up on a guy with the skillet of Quarless after one year.  Finley was no more impressive than Quarless after his first season.

I was a little lukewarm on DJ Williams coming into this draft.  And it's only because he doesn't have the prototypical size that you look for in a TE - he measured in at just under 6-2 at the Senior Bowl.  By all accounts though he seems like a smart, great guy who is respected by his teammates.  Excellent worker with very good hands and an understanding of how to run routes.  Really the only bad thing that you can say about him is he's undersized and may not have the ability to be a dominating blocker in the NFL - I've seen some comparison's to Dustin Keller.  His blocking has been described as pesky/high effort but not dominant.  I like the pick though.  He has a nice chance to carve out a role as an H-Back/TE hybrid who can provide a nice outlet for Aaron Rodgers - just don't expect your typical TE when you think of him.

I actually thought of Chris Cooley when he was coming into the league when I thought of DJ Williams, am I wrong in thinking that?

If he's making omelets for the team on a weekly basis, then I think you keep the skillet around. But if he's being lazy and using that skillet for something else, then you've gotta think twice. A skillet is a tool that, when properly, can be the difference between a playoff team and a Super Bowl Champion, as evidenced by Quarless and his skillet! Now, the question is, do you think that skillet is going to develop any more, or is that it for him?

Whoops, firefox spellcheck isn't going to catch that one (insert another joke about Quarless not being able to catch here).

I would take Precious Amukamara, Princess Amukamara, and probably even Promise Amukamara over Andrew Quarless' skillet.

I read it and had to! And I don't see anything wrong with competition. If they would draft one or two D-Lineman or LBers, that would be helpful!

With the trades down for extra picks, you wonder if we're going to use the 6th/7th rounds a bit more in place of the undrafted FA with the situation this year....

That seems to be the conventional wisdom from the journalists and other commentators across the board. Makes sense; besides you don't feel that bad if a second or third player picked in Round 6/7 doesn't make the roster.

Nader Raider Tim, I like the Chris Cooley comparison to DJ Williams.  Nice call.

Ok, now that we're in the 7th round, I really want the Packers to take a flyer on Herzlich.
