Ok, a little undue criticism directed at TT. He will sign FAs, but certainly more limited than most would like. Especially seeing how Denver plugged some holes in the team with FA and minor trades this past year.

I'll start with the realistic ones (Packer FAs)
- BJ Raji certainly deserves to be resigned. I don't think he is a break-the-bank type, but should make a decent 3-4 year contract.
- Crosby: Solid as they come in the last couple years. Early 30s has him with many miles on his legs.
- Kuhn: Vet minimum. Almost a sure thing just because he is a AR favorite. No risk at a vet minimum anyway. No one else would bother.
- Perry or Neal: Certainly one of them back is needed. I'd take both if the expense isn't too bad. Perry would be priority 1
- Guion: If they can get him at a low deal, I'd do it again. Useful, but not a world beater. Important if Raji is lost.

The long shots (non Packer FAs):
(I'm ignoring the highly unlikely players to hit FA like Vonn Miller or Cordy Glenn):

MLB: Danny Trevathan - Probably going to be expensive, but a solution to our MLB problems. Certainly would push Clay back to the OLB only. Pair him with Jake Ryan or Sam Barrington and MLB problems should be a thing of the past. Or grab Zach Brown for coverage and let him compete for the early down plays.

RB: Matt Forte - Problem is the Forte probably wants to be a starter. He would be an AWESOME back up to Lacy. Still can run and a far better 3rd down option than Starks or Lacy. I've liked this guy as a player far too much for a Bears player. Time to liberate him. Lamar Miller would be great, but would probably cost way too much. More of an option is you replace Lacy.

TE: Coby Fleener - The draft seems light in pass-catching type TEs. Fleener is inconsistent, but might be worth a flyer. Or take a bigger chance and go for Ladarius Green. But I doubt SD lets him leave with Gates probably retiring.

OT: Better to draft or try to steal Joe Thomas from Cleveland.

Someone else thinks that Forte would be a good fit in Green Bay.

I'd love to see the Packers sign Trevathan but only at an appropriate price.

The Forte thought is interesting as well. That would surely light a fire under Lacy... or melt him all the way down mentally. If Lacy ever is to "give up" I'd rather it be sooner than later.

I'm a little worried that TT will sign one or two FA guys just to shut everyone up, which might even bring him to overspend for their value(s).

I can't see TT ever concerned with public opinion of himself.

Seeing on Twitter that the Packers might be interested in Forte, Bennett and perhaps Marshall.

I'll believe it when I see it, but any of them would certainly be a pretty impactful (and surprising) addition.

Actually TT is pretty good about "kicking the tires" on FAs. If we signed more than one of them, I'd be shocked. But that doesn't mean we don't find out who might be a fit for us.

Hmmmm... I saw that Bruce Carter has been released by the Bucs.

Success in coverage - check.
Success at ILB in 3-4 - check.
Street FA (thus not effecting draft pick compensation) - Check.
Poor year last year, so cost will be suppressed a bit. - Check.
Still a fairly young player - Check.

Is that TT's caller ID on his agent's phone?

And all of this in TE form: http://www.packersnews.com/story/sports ... /81827048/

Cook and Carter for decent contracts would be great prior to the draft. Helps to get a real BPA when you don't have glaring holes to fill. Plus TE and ILB are poor selections for the 1st round pick.

I was going to say Martellus Bennett, though he wasn't a FA.

I appreciate TT's team-building philosophy and agree with it, but there are only so many years where we will have Aaron Rodgers. Swapping a 4th for a 6th plus getting at least a year of Bennett would have been really nice.

Then again, maybe the Bears didn't want to trade him to the Packers.

So, Cook is signed... I think we still have room to peek at Carter in a similar deal.
