It's funny that that same description describes Chad Clifton as well.

Really? Clifton played tackle in college and the NFL. Did we draft Brandon Jackson to play WR? I'm not knocking Colledge, but at the end of the day based on his results in the NFL I don't want him protecting our QB at LT. He very well could one day, but if he had to for a long time this year -- we wouldn't be playing Sunday. I do agree that if he works out at tackle he will fit the zone blocking scheme.

How is playing at a small school not important -- remember Clifton and Tauscher came from a SEC and Big 10 school? Let's look at the the Pro Bowlers this year at tackle:

Flozell Adams - Michigan State
Chris Samuels - Alabama
Walter Jones - Florida State
Matt Light - Purdue
Jason Peters - Arkansas
Jonathan Ogden - UCLA
Joe Thomas - Wisconsin

I know the Pro Bowl isn't exactly fair -- but I also think it's important to note that all these guys played in big-time conferences -- didn't make the transition that Colledge is expected to make with ease. We're talking the LT spot. Clifton isn't my favorite player -- I don't like his run blocking -- but his pass blocking without question is among the elite. Clifton is well overdue for a Pro Bowl and we're going to replace him with a guy that Favre himself isn't sold on?
