Adding a QB now would almost have to be one already familiar with the west cost offense. I guess part of the thinking with Young was if they are stuck with bad options go with the youngest of them. If neither can help now why not let the one who might help later get a shot?
I'm surprised by Green as well but I am not so sure they get another one yet. They can always pick up someone like Benson during the season to cover injuries or ineffectiveness. Three plus Kuhn seems enough to be getting one with.

Brady Quinn was just released by Seattle. He could probably crash on AJ Hawk's couch.

Most surprising cuts have to be VY, Green, and Moses.

I'm happy for Jolly. It's got to be a very emotional day for him.

I only missed on 3 players in my predictions, unless I'm missing someone.
Honestly shocked about Young (unless the plan is to bring in another QB). Williams is another head-scratcher, since I had heard largely positive reports on his blocking, and he got open enough to be a frequent target in the pre-season passing game. TE had to be some of the hardest spots to cut down, though, given the spread of blocking vs. receiving talent across the board.

Alex Green's being cut isn't a shock, but given the way the Packers RBs have been beaten up in recent years, I would have kept as many of them as feasible.

Will be curious to see if any lateral moves / additional cuts happen in the next day or two.

I didn't take notes, but there appeared to be a few RB that could easily be worth kicking the tires on and they almost have to bring in a QB so I'm guessing there will be some more roster churn this week.

Getting open on only half the battle. If he wouldn't have dropped half of the ones thrown to him he would probably still be here.

DJ Williams (Jagaurs), Dezmon Moses (Chiefs), Alex Green (Jets) and Patrick Lewis (Browns) were all claimed on waivers. Lewis was a practice squad candidate who nearly beat out Van Roten for a roster spot, so they must be disappointed in losing him.

I don't recall him having problems with drops. And if that's the reason for cutting him, I don't see why we're paying Feet-for-Hands Finley almost $8 million this year.

Will you have this left guard to be the 224th pick?

Looks like you get your wish. Wallace was signed and Coleman was released. It'll be interesting to see if they drop Tolzien and add Coleman to the practice squad after the San Fran game.

I saw a graphic on drops in the preseason and he was top of the list in % of drops. Finley for all the criticism he gets was very low on it.

Sorry, I would have to see the graphic. If Williams drops 1 of 2 and Finley drops 3 of 8, I don't buy that the percentages are worth much.

Good. I've liked Wallace going back to his early Seahawks days. I never understood why he didn't get a better chance to be the starter in Cleveland. He was easily the best QB on their roster when he was there. I don't know why he wasn't with a team last year or what happened with New Orleans, but if he's anything like he was his first 7 years in the league I'm happy to have him. He should be a good fit for this offense too.

As for Coleman, this could mean nothing, but it very well could mean he's finished: Seneca Wallace will wear #9 (a number he's never worn before). You think it'd be common courtesy to hold his number if they intended to bring him back, even if he is just on the practice squad.

I think signing Tolzien to the PS indicates Coleman is done with the Pack. There just wasn't enough development to justify him staying further. Almost a lock that TT will draft a QB in the second half of the draft next year...

As for the cuts, I'm disappointed about Alex Green. I thought he was worth keeping given our RB situation. Really flashes some talent at times...

Moses and Patrick *might* become something someday, but probably not a big loss.

The rest aren't any loss.

I'll try to find it. But it wasn't just game drops. It was a running total throughout camp. All of them had enough balls thrown to them to make it meaningful.

Yeah I'm confused about keeping Starks over Green. Would have liked to see how Green does another year removed from his torn ACL. Starks is the less complete back in that he is still pretty crappy in pass protection, but I suppose offers more of a Lacy substitute.

The thing is though, they probably had room to keep both on the 53. Do they really need both of Nate Palmer and Andy Malumba? Or Josh Boyd for that matter (although I can understand that one more since Pickett, Raji, Wilson, and Neal are all on the last years of their deals).

Cut Tolzien, make Randall Cobb the 3rd QB, and there you go - you have room for one more guy.
